The editing grind

Let’s talk about the editing grind for a few minutes, or rather a few hours…strike that, a few days! This process has been the longest! I’ve seen other content creators talk and commiserate about the process of editing, how long it takes and how involved it is. Until you’re in it, it is really hard to understand! Maybe it’s because I’m also juggling writing the next story, building the world, writing this blog, and recording the narration. Overwhelmed is an understatement! When the world is complete, and the stories written things should be easier. I’ll just have to enter the world and hit record, but who am I kidding, this is quite the effort!

Watch, tweak, repeat!

I am using OpenShot Video Editor and so far it’s pretty easy to use. I can cut and put scenes together, trim and remove extra that shouldn’t be there. As a beginner, it’s exactly what I’m looking for. The online tutorials and boards have been crucial. I would be lost without them . I’ve never watched and re-watched and tweaked and re-tweaked an opening scene so much. I spent three days on just the opening scene alone and I’m still not sure that I like it. Its messy, and has some continuity issues, but its my first time really working at it. By the time I finish the last scene, I know will want to go back and rework the opening. I will have learned so much more by then. My video is eight scenes, I’ve completed two. There is so much more work ahead. Sometimes it feels like I’m doing too much, but I’m still pretty motivated to get this done. I want to know that I can do it!

Be sure to check out the current projects to see some pictures of how it’s going. Follow me on Instagram to see some hints at what might be next for me, and it’s never too early to follow my YouTube channel. The work is in progress and I am determined to have it uploaded in a few weeks! I appreciate you, thank you for following this journey with me!
